Pigeon Sledging. Bring It On.

So, this is it. The snow’s here, big time, and there’s more on the way. In fact I think it’s doing it again now. Thankfully I managed to escape the slush of Central London by swapping it for some lush white powder in Richmond. Good move. Plenty of room under the bridge, and we even got fed yesterday. Kid you not. Richmond is definitely the place to be when it snows.

This was me, yesterday:

Good times, despite the cold feet. Jesus they were cold!

Mart’s just suggested an activity for today. Possibly the first genuinely good idea he’s ever had. Sledging in the park using an empty throw-away box. Ideally one like this:

He’s off right now with a couple of pals hunting one down. Should be easy enough to get it up there with a few of us. Watch this space. Or, if you’re out and about on the slopes of Richmond Park, watch out for a bunch of pigeons on a tin foil sledge.

Bring it on!

    Let the winter Olympics start.

Sledging was all a bit of a disaster. Maybe skiing would work better?

Jesus Brian, why Richmond? How much litter do you expect to find in such a post code? Now, if you were to join us at The Pally, you can find all the litter you could possibly need, and great sledging. Added bonus of all the snooker fans wanting a break from the most tedious sport imaginable, so they come out to feed us birds and stop themselves going mad. Main problem round here is the seagulls – manners to match the area – they don’t give a fuck who they trample on to get at food and what a racket – they think they can scare us off with their screeching. But,YOU try phoning Haringey noise abatement about anti-social behaviour.

Ali – The Pally sounds great! Isn’t that near Finsbury Park? Heard it’s throwaway central up there… Can’t believe you get seagulls though. Where’s the sea??

It’s uncanny how by reading this blog I notice that when some climate change happens in London, it happens right here in Italy too! Guess what – it’s been snowing here too!

    • pigeonblog replied:

It’s cold, and seems to be getting colder. The thing about Italy is at least you get hot in the summer. Over here, it’s just wet!

Hi Brian, well I’m in Up North country and all we have is slush , no sled raves for us. Like your idea though. Mad woman put a load of seed in town for us the other day….like Christmas rush all over again, pigeons galore, what a party! And SEED…not left over whatsits. Got a bit fat, I think. Going to take some photos of us soon…can I do that and put em on here? Dunno. Not very good with teknology.

    • pigeonblog replied:

I think I’ve put on a couple of pounds too, but we need it down here. Layer of fat to keep us warm.

Sounds like it would be great fun! I can’t wait to see the pictures!

It was all a bit of a disaster. Pictures of the wreckage to follow tomorrow. I’m talking serious wipeout.

Seems like all of Danny Macaskalls videos? are better than this one. But this one is still amazing wish I could do that I’m still working on a wheelie Haha.

[…] laugh, and I bet Brighton’s got some neat sledging spots. Mart’ll be made up. He even came up with an idea for a sledge a couple of years back. One of the few good ideas he’s ever had. May even go get us one so we can have it standing […]
