Pigeon Back On The Menu

Before I get going with news on the first weekend of the 2012 Pigeon Olympics, I had to post this.

It seems that with all the excitement, someone somewhere has managed to slip eating pigeons under the radar. There I was thinking it was all a thing of the past. Check this out: Great British Chef’s list of pigeon recipes. Jesus. Outraged. It goes on and on too. Pigeon with beetroot, pigeon with butter beans, pigeon with salad, and there are photos.

Must have been a super pigeon, looks more like a chicken

  2. joehoover replied:

I actually know someone who wrote a book on pigeon recipes. I don’t think he got it published though. Do you have cannibals in the pigeon world?

    • pigeonblog replied:

No way. What’s scary is that there are enough out there to make a book in the first place. Thankfully cannibalism lost its appeal a long time ago.

  3. Animalcouriers replied:

Was this a casualty of the flyby on Friday – hitting the overhead cables?

    • pigeonblog replied:

Certainly could have been me. Nearly singed my arse off when the fireworks shot out from the roof.

  4. Ali from the Pally replied:

That really is disgusting. Such obscenities have no place on your blog Brian, and I don’t think I want to follow you any more.

    • pigeonblog replied:

      Yo Ali
Apologies. I should have posted it with a warning about the content. My bad.

  5. Mimi Gregor replied:

    …..The horror……

  6. Michael Rowe replied:

Looks very well developed in the breast area (pardon the reference) for a wild pigeon. Are there pigeon “factories” out there somewhere?

    • pigeonblog replied:

Sadly, there are, and there will be plenty more of them soon if everyone starts cooking pigeons again.
