Sunny Days and… ‘West Side Story’?

Fuck me. Finally the sun's shining. Cool. Mart and me went on a bit of a flyaround coz that's what we do when the sun shines. Anyway – bumped into pigeon actor mate, Doug, who told me some of his thespy mates were rehearsing for their rendition of 'West Side Story'. Fucking hilarious. West Side Story starring a load of pigeons. Just so had to go for the laugh. Took the cam along too…

This is Edward doing 'Something's Coming'. Totally pissed ourselves. The bread bits were the 'pretend audience'. Yep – he was singing to a load of mouldy crumbs! Said it 'kept his focus'. He did all the head moves and everything – looking all serious…

'Could it be, yes it could. Something's coming, something good. If I can wait…!'.

Jesus Christ. Too much!

And this is Mike as… Maria! I kid you not. Top it all he's from Scotland with a  serious Glasgow accent. A full on Scots bloke pigeon playing Maria. For fuck's sake!

He was trying to perfect his 'lady walk' when we took this – ready to get going with 'I Feel Pretty'. That was the last straw. We were crying with laughter so much we had to leave.

Gonna get a load of us along next time. Fucking priceless.

I’d like to see you guys do Saturday Night Fever with the strutting walk. Why is it that you can’t walk without moving your head?

Annie: Nice idea! Ah – the moving the head thing – some do it coz they think it makes em looks cool, some do it coz it helps em walk- some do it coz they think they should. Kinda depends. That’s why, when you see TPs knocking about (specially trained tourist pigeons), they keep their heads as still as poss. They think it makes them look cooler. Not.

Absolutely priceless. I couldn’t stop laughing at Doug and his “audience”. He looks SO serious on the picture! And Mike – excellent – looks like he’s been doing that all his life.

Blimey! A Scottish woodpigeon bloke as Maria???

I’ve lived on the actual West Side of “West Side Story” and those two would get a hard time there!

Mind you, he does have lovely posture, and impeccable plumage.

Julia: Have to say, he was seriously crap. His lady walk never looked like a lady for a start! Should have heard him do ‘Tonight’. Hilarious!
