How do you say ‘Pigeon’, and Pam’s Lovely Arse
Been doin' a bit of pointless research. How do you say 'pigeon' in …
- Arabic – hamam
- Chinese – buck gup
- Dutch – duif, postduif
- English – pigeon, dove, rock dove, racing pigeon, messenger pigeon, carrier pigeon, courier pigeon
- Esperanto – kolombo, leterkolombo
- German – taube, brieftaube
- Hebrew – yona
- Hungarian – galamb
- Latin – columba
- Romanian – porumbel
- Russian – голубь
- Spanish – paloma, paloma mensajera
Love the Chinese – 'buck gup'. Now I know what to look out for next time I check a throwaway menu…
Weird too – had a dream about Pam last night. Been thinking about her alot. Maybe it's the time of year – hot weather gets us pigeons everytime – or maybe it's just new love. Who knows. All I know is this: Pam is lovely and, although she's a duck, I think we could make it work…

Lovely arse.

You missed a couple out of English – Pidge, pij, pijun, pidgey, the Godpigeon, fattie pij…..
Imagine if you and Pam reproduced. Would it be a Digeon, or a puck? Or a pick? Or a dugeon? Or, to be silly, a digeonuck?

Polish – Golub
There’s a traditional Polish dish called “Golubki” – Little pigeons – which are actually cabbages stuffed with beef.

Ryan: Cheers! Mad how we got such different names all over the world when, basically, we all look exactly the same!
Sir B
Julia: So glad you didn’t say “Golubki’ was little pigeons stuffed with cabbage. That, clearly, would just be wrong!
Bri P
RoooRoooo: Yeah – she is rather. Just got to convince her that I am too… otherwise, maybe I should give it a go with Mildred?!
Your pal Bri P
cz: Pulu. Quite like that! Short and sweet. Cheers!
